Hagstofan, also known as Statistics Iceland, is the main official institute responsible for providing statistics on the nation of Iceland. Established in 1914, it operates as an independent government agency under the Prime Minister's Office and plays a leading role in the organization, coordination, and execution of official statistics, as well as in international cooperation concerning statistics. It collects, processes, and disseminates statistical information to the public, businesses, institutions, and public authorities, covering various aspects of Icelandic society and economy, including population, labor market, economy, and environment.
