Kennarasambandið, also known as the Icelandic Teachers' Union, is a professional organization established in November 1999 and officially began operations on January 1, 2000. It serves as the trade union for teachers in Iceland, representing over 11,000 members as of January 2023, who work in preschools, compulsory schools, music schools, and upper secondary schools. Its primary role is to protect the interests and rights of its members, negotiate salaries and terms of employment, and promote professional development and educational standards in Iceland.
