DR, officially the Danish Broadcasting Corporation, is a Danish public-service radio and television broadcasting company. Founded in 1925, it is Denmark's oldest and largest electronic media enterprise, operating three television channels and seven radio channels. While primarily serving Denmark, DR is a founding member of the European Broadcasting Union and its content can be received in Greenland and the Faroe Islands. There is no indication of DR having a specific role or significance within Icelandic media beyond general news reporting that might be picked up by Icelandic outlets. Icelandic media is distinct, with its own principal television station (RÚV) and newspapers.
