Þjóðleikhúsið, also known as The National Theatre of Iceland, is Iceland's national theatre located in Reykjavík. Opened in 1950, it is a leading cultural institution that stages a diverse repertoire of Icelandic and foreign plays, musicals, dance performances, and children's productions, aiming to promote Icelandic theatre and arts. The theatre presents around 30 productions each season to an annual viewership of over 100,000 people. It plays a significant role in developing Icelandic culture and fostering new Icelandic writing for the stage.
