Portúgal is the Icelandic name for Portugal, a country in southwestern Europe. It is a significant destination for Icelandic travelers, with Spain and Portugal accounting for over half of all foreign travel by Icelanders in 2024. There is also a notable Portuguese community in Iceland, comprising over 1,200 individuals as of 2023, who contribute to various sectors of the Icelandic workforce, particularly fisheries, construction, and tourism. The two countries maintain diplomatic relations, and Portugal has an embassy accredited to Iceland.
