Keflavíkurflugvöllur, also known as Keflavík International Airport (KEF), is Iceland's largest airport and the primary hub for international air travel to and from the country. Located on the Reykjanes Peninsula, approximately 50 kilometers (31 miles) southwest of the capital Reykjavík, it serves as a crucial gateway for tourism and commerce. The airport was originally built by the U.S. military during World War II and played a significant role during the Cold War. It is operated by Isavia, a government enterprise, and is a hub for Icelandair and Play airlines.
