Norðurlönd is the Icelandic term for the Nordic countries, a geographical and cultural region in Northern Europe and the North Atlantic. This includes Iceland, Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden, along with their associated territories. Iceland shares many characteristics with other Nordic countries, particularly in its media system, though historically it has had a less active state role in the media market compared to its neighbors.
