Tröllaskagi

Staður

Tröllaskagi, also known as the Troll Peninsula, is a mountainous peninsula in northern Iceland, situated between the fjords of Eyjafjörður and Skagafjörður. It is characterized by dramatic landscapes, including tall mountains (some over 1,000 meters, with Kerling being the highest at 1,538 meters), deep valleys, and coastal settlements. The peninsula is a significant area for outdoor recreation, offering opportunities for hiking, skiing, whale watching, and sea angling, and is particularly known for its heavy winter snowfall and off-piste skiing. The Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration (Vegagerðin) monitors weather and road conditions in the area, as parts of the peninsula, like the Öxnadalsheiði mountain pass, can be challenging, especially in winter.
